Shelby Young was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Shelby first developed her passion for drama in high school. After
graduation, Shelby worked as a teacher's assistant and thought she would pursue a career in education. It was at this
time that she met a traveling Christian theatre company called Covenant Players. Eventually, she auditioned and
was invited to join this professional ministry. She moved from Alberta, Canada to their headquarters in Oxnard,
California. Shelby toured with this Christian repertory company for 9 years. She was quickly promoted to the position
of regional field manager, where she performed and directed over 5,000 performances and learned nearly 300 unique
character roles. She won several prestigious awards during her time there.
It was in this ministry that Shelby met her husband, Jim Young, and they
were married July 1, 2000 in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. They continued to tour as co-unit leaders until the birth of
their son, when they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. Shelby immediately became involved in regional television and radio
spots, where she discovered she had a real talent for voice over work. She became well known in the area and found a
good deal of work. Shelby balanced her time by performing in her church and in regional theatre productions, including
Neil Simon's Proposals.
It was here in Grants Pass that Shelby met Greg Robbins and landed the part of Lori in Pastor Greg.
