Primary Problem:
HIV/AIDS - It is estimated that nearly 60% of the population is infected with this disease.
Hundreds of children are abandoned every month due to HIV/AIDS. Malnutrition, threat of food shortages and unemployment
are growing rapidly.
How We Are Helping:
We have three areas of rescue in Zimbabwe. First, we are working with Community Based Orphan Care. CBOC is when
families and neighbors choose to care for those orphaned in the community. Zimbabwe is an extremely family-oriented
culture. If given the sustenance, the communities would prefer to care for their own. Presently, hundreds of pounds of
food are being supplied to such care every month. Second, we are helping to care for 37 children in the Ivordale
Orphanage. Some of these children came to the orphanage HIV infected and after prayer and good food have been found to
be free of the disease. Third, the orphan crisis has grown beyond anyone's control, so in 2005 we will be purchasing
another building to house, care, disciple, and train more orphans. In addition to the orphan care we are working with
Dr. Andrew Reid. Dr. Reid, at a cost of $30/month is able to give HIV medications that will literally save the lives
of the adults on the protocol. If we can save the adults, we begin to solve the orphan challenge.
