Oswaldo Alvarez Calderon is 12 years old and has been at Bethel Orphanage for about eight months. He is a bright, quiet boy who smiles easily and enjoys life. Oswaldo is in his last year of primary school where his favorite subject is math. He is meticulous in crafts, coloring, and projects and enjoys playing football. Most importantly, he has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

His mother is single and has to work, so he and his younger brother Luis live at Bethel. She loves them very much and visits almost every week. On Oswaldo's 12th birthday, she had a fiesta with a pi'ata, tamales and meve (ice cream). She has already spoken with the Ministries Director, Joe Burgan, to see if Oswaldo can go to Caring Hearts new boys home when it opens. He will be one of our first residents.
