(Another theological question came into our inbox recently:)
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ANSWERS CONCERNING THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: CAN SATAN READ OUR MINDS? I WOULD LIKE YOUR ANSWER. I KNOW SATAN BRINGS EVIL THOUGHTS TO OUR MINDS. BUT, WE DON'T HAVE TO RESPOND WRONGFULLY TO HIM.
I AWAIT YOUR ANSWER !
(Well, wait no longer:)
You recently sent us an email asking if Satan can read our minds. This is a question that I have never heard a satisfactory answer to, so I thought I would do some research.
Most biblical experts say there is no biblical instance or attribution of Satan having the power to know someone's thoughts. That is only attributed to God in heaven or Jesus here on the earth. Many contend that for Satan to read our minds it would require him to have the power of omniscience (all-knowing) which is something that only God has. I think that this is probably the most logical position to take.
I personally have wondered, just like you, if Satan could hear my thoughts. I have heard people say that he can't, "so be careful that you don't say" this or that, which I think is silly. Probably the best answer is that we just shouldn't worry about it. Our concern is to know and love God and to spread his word. If we do that well, then we won't care if the devil knows our thoughts or not.
Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Tom
