Sometimes people tell us how much they love Cornerstone TeleVision because it is a “safe place” for their family to watch TV. I know they mean that they can let their kids watch our network without fear of sex, violence or ungodly concepts being shown to their impressionable minds. Yes, this is true and I’m glad of it, but somehow the “safe” tag has never set well with me. I don’t want us to be safe; I want us to be dangerous.
In my experience too many Christians are worried about being protected from the world. This is descended from the holiness movement that was a true move of God from about 150 years ago. However, it led to “rules oriented” Christianity: Don’t drink, don’t go to movies, don’t dance, don’t, don’t, don’t. Recently it has been expressed in parents restricting their children from watching programs as innocuous as Pokémon. I do not want to debate the wisdom of such guidelines now, except to say that it can lead to fear of association with non-Christians. Yet we are commanded to be in the world.
The Bible tells us that “The righteous are as bold as a lion,” and that “the gates of Hell will not prevail against us.” Cornerstone TeleVision needs not to be safe but to be dangerous; dangerous to the devil. We have the life changing message of God’s love and the power of the Holy Spirit. The devil should be afraid of us; and he is.

is it possible to listen to "Charlie Brown" by the Coasters and not get happy? reply yes or no. I know I have literally had 2 or 3 dance breaks in the office today to that song. Ralph, our ancient of days production record man aka superman, probably thought i was crazy when he was in our office watching me dance as i stared hard at him. Check out the link below to start your own office dance dance party.

so this weekend was my 25th birthday (yahoo.) and how did i celebrate my car insurance going down? I spent the whole day lying on my couch in misery watching the same episode of sports center 5x over. why? because this guy was sick as a dog with a terrible cold. I am too lazy to go see the docs and i would self diagnos myself as having some form of bronchhitis. not too fun. I want to take a step backwards into the part that had me not going to the doctor. there is an age old debate with christians and doctors. Some believe that God placed doctors on this earth to benefit us and our health; others don't believe in doctors and rely soley on their faith in God to heal them. What is it that you believe? Drop me a comment and let me know, we then can begin ourselves a great debate. I don't know if any one will win the debate but hey itll feel good to get the blood flowing in our veins right. now HOLLA ATCHA BOI!!

The Weekly Standard has reported that in a conference call with 1000 rabbis from across the nation Obama asked the group for aid in “accomplishing necessary reform” regarding the current healthcare bill. He went on to say during the conference “We are God’s partners in matters of life and death.”

Whoa-put the brakes on! First of all it takes a lot of guts (and arrogance) to think that humanity has the same power as God to hold the keys to life and death and second of all he just compared himself to God Almighty! “That which God has given let no man take it away”
But wait…isn’t this statement coming from the lips of the same man who said during his campaign that important matters of religion were “above his paygrade?”
Bottom line- this healthcare-or shall I say health-scare- reform is starting to sound a bit familiar. Can anyone say 1939?

HELP!!! I am operating on a cheap bachelor budget. My grocery list consistently finds me purchasing $1 banquet tv dinners, Spagettios w/meatballs, hot dogs, and $1 microwavable pizzas (don’t tell my mom). My question to you as I broaden my horizon on the grocery list, what are the top 3-5 things you get at the grocery store that a bachelor like me can buy and eat. On your top 3-5 list, these 3 needs must be considered.
1.) Cost, cheaper the better
2.) least amount of dishes necessary
3.) taste, best flavor bang for the buck

Bloggin peeps, what up! I havent written in a few days. I can easily use the excuse that I have been swamped lately in the office. Thats always a good crutch to use when people have no idea what you do during the day. I'm guilty of over using that excuse. I know you have also. Bottom line is that I have been lazy. yep, I just havent wanted to blog. woops! Ive got one thing that been picking at my brain lately and I want to hear your opinion. The issue of secular music in church. I have been apart of a few different churches that are completely 180 degrees apart on the issue. Is it apropriate to have secular music at church events, church announcements, church productions, or any other time music is necesary in church? I strongly believe and encourage that secular music belongs in church. I have been in both spectrums. The church I grew up in for many years was anti-secular music, basically if its not christian its not good. They had a basketball league and played praise and worship music as the teams were warming up. Singing gospel hymns is not exactly what gets me fired up to play some ball. We actually were scolded for playing oldies like the Temptations and Supremes. Now I believe, as most of us probably do, that there are some secular songs with inapropriate language and messages that not only don't belong in church but any sort of family event or setting. So I guess we're ruling out some Nate Dogg, Dr. Dre, Biggie, Pac and Snoop (you can't tell I grew up in the 90's can you?). I pondered for the longest time about what was so wrong with playing oldies in a church function/setting. I came to the conclusion, NOTHING. Years later I was apart of another basketball league in the inner city that played nothing but the beats to secular hip hop songs. No lyrics, just the tracks. I thought that was the coolest thing. It was such a draw to the youth to hear the cool music in church. In the book of Genesis it talks about the story of Joseph (which happens to be my favorite bible story) and how his brothers sold him to slavery. In Chadillacs translation of the bible it says.... what they meant for evil God intended for good to save lives (Genesis 50:20). Why not apply this bible verse to secular music in the church? Spin this "evil" music to glorify God. Use Satans weapon against him. How cool, funny, and logical is that? I believe it is placing God in a box to say he can't work through secular music. That's exactly what I see being said when secular music is taboo, it's handcuffing God. Using secular music in the church adds a relevancy and credibility to youth groups through the eyes on teenagers. I know because I used to be one. I want to hear your thoughts and opinions, what do you believe on this issue?

Is it just me or is there a conspiracy against our children?
A report recently came out that stated the costs of raising a child in today's american society is approximately $220,000 in the first 17 years of their life, not including college. That is a lot of dough, but is it enough to discourage the prospective parent? I can't speak for eveyone but for my husband and I who are planning on having children in the near future I would say not. I'm not really sure why the governemnt thought it was a good idea to figure this out (and to the penny mind you) when they have far too many other calculations they could be productively spending time on eh hem-healthcare reform and where to cut wasteful spending...
Just today I read that Oregon State University issued a report that "suggests that if people are serious about reducing their so-called "carbon footprint," they should consider having fewer children. According to the press release from OSU, "the carbon legacy and greenhouse gas impact of an extra child is almost 20 times more important than some of the other environmentally sensitive practices people might employ their entire lives -- things like driving a high-mileage car, recycling, or using energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs.' "The study added that the average long-term effect of a U.S.-born child is more than 160 times that of a child born in Bangladesh because it is a lesser developed country. However, even in developing nations, such as China, which have higher population rates than the U.S., their carbon footprint is smaller than the U.S. because of shorter life spans and less consumption. According to the study, a Chinese child has less than one-fifth the long-term carbon impact on the environment than an American child." (excerpt from onenewsnow.org)
So our kids are a bit more pampered than a lot of kids around the world but is that really a reason to have fewer or none at all? Hardly a valid case.
Save the kids!!!

Everyday my best friend since the 6th grade, D-Mo and I text each other the random questions that pass through our heads throughout the day. One of us then expounds on why we are thinking of this question and why it perplex's us so much to ask the question. From there we typically respond with an answer, a funny quip, or bluntly say "dude, I don't know. Good question." Well this is whats up my crawl, the dude never answered my question from yesterday morning. So this is my way of calling you out D-Mo! If he wont answer my question I am relying on you blogging peeps to answer it for me. Here it is,
"Who is the one that decided to designate dounuts as a breakfast food?"

Think about it, it is basically a piece of cake with frosting. FOR BREAKFAST. If the 1st meal of the day is really as important as they say, why are we encouraging each other to eat something so sweet. I had a chocolate cake dounut earlier to go along with a coffee of mine and decided I could have poured a cup of sugar down my throat to get the same sugar high. This is the very unhealth freak bachalor talking who buys spagettios (w/meatballs) by the bulk and looks forward to them all evening. Seriously though, have you ever finished eating a dounut 1st thing in the morning and say, "that was a great idea". I know I havent. So I ask you again, why is a dounut a breakfast food and not a dessert food? You answer it for me. I'll be waiting.
ps... I have been jamming out to Sammie "I like it". took me back to my freshman year of high school thanks sammie
